yaki.yaki.japs

another buffet time..

(yaayy)
this is one buffet i will remember for sure
not because the food itself, but because what happened before the buffet
not gonna tell you the whole story here, but just say..
i almost trapped myself in the house for 2 days (^^')

anyway, back to the buffet..
yaki yaki japanese buffet is the place' name

exactly in front of low yat plaza

i guess that they just opened few months before,
because some of the interior has yet finished
but then.. good for us because it is not so crowded like any buffet elsewhe
re
also yaki yaki offered special price for weekdays and 50% discount on weekend..
an offer we will not gonna missed out

the food was great
hmm.. at least much better than one japs buffet i h
ad at one utama last time

started with sashimi of course
then ramdomly choose anything that looks interesting
one thing i like
they had yakiniku also here..

with lots of sauce selection pick any meat or fish you like
(sorry to say.. no pork here.. ^^)

mix and match the sauce
trying to become rob rainford for once
and get the license to grill
no matter what the taste will be.. hmm

the japs buffet in starhill gallery offered special dishes only for members
but here in yaki yaki, each person have one chance to choose a special dish
between hot or cold sake, cheese baked king prawn..

for me.. a nice warm sake of course :)

unfortunately, for the dessert..
it was not so good
but still.. it is a place to recommend

interested?
the promotion last until august 2nd, 2009

eat.all.u.can.sushi.part.two

while writting post no.8, i remember my first all-u-can-eat-sushi eating experience. it was in 2007 at suki sushi, cathay cineleisure mall, singapore. just next to the cinema where u can get their all-u-can-eat promo for SGD25.00. surprisingly, i found their dishes was not bad at all, big portion, quite fresh and also tasted good.

i-eight double salmon maki, mini california maki, tako and salmon sashimi, unagi maki, chuka chinmi and kisame itako. all in a huge portion, plenty amount of rice also making you feeling full in a short of time, so be careful not to order more than you can eat. but one thing i remember the most was the butter yaki hotate. very creamy, juicy and super delicious (hmm..). i guess i just came on the right time, right day.. complete satisfaction.

eat.all.u.can.sushi

finally!

after sushi-fasting for almost three months... it's payback time (yeaay)
and guess what, today is a special day... and this is my #8 post (d
ouble yeaay)

i already aim this one sushi restaurant since i read ky's blog. the name is rakuzen, in chulan square, kuala lumpur. i heard they are actually the same as zanmai sushi, my favourite conveyor-belt sushi restaurant for now. luckily, rakuzen got sunday buffet lunch, only sunday and only lunch time, for RM55++ for adult and RM28++ for children (last time only 40something if i'm not mistaken... hmm)

it is actually very easy to reach there, well i got lost in the beginning because came out from the wrong pavillion mall exit door and got misdirection... shame on me, i know.

i booked one week ahead, minimum pax is 2 person and it's only from 12pm to 3pm. they will give you a list of menu, so you just have to order what you want. but be wise and don't be too overwhelmed, there's also charge for wastage food you left, RM10 for every 100gram.

as this was a breaking-fast moment for me, as a start i ordered (not too) many items. hot ocha for sure, then chuka wakame, chuka chinmi, chuka iidako, sashimi moriawase (assorted sashimi), and sushi moriawase (assorted sushi). there was also yanagawa nabe, udon, and miso soup.

the sashimi includes maguro, shiromi, sake, tako, and ika. the sushi includes maguro, shiromi, sake, unagi, nama hotate, ni hotate, ebi, tako, ika, ebikko, tamagoyaki, inari, and kaori-hana kani.

while waiting the food to come, i prepared the the wasabi and shoyu. it may sound weird, but i like to mix the wasabi into the shoyu with lots of chili powder and sweet sauce.

sweet sauce? yup, the black thick sweet taste soya sauce. not all sushi place got this one, so i am starting to consider bring myself one everytime i go (hmm...). beside sushi or sashimi, i also like to dip sweet ginger to this mix sauce (yummy and refresh-ing).

the second order was another spider roll, sake sashimi, chuka kurage, soft shell crab, yakitori, and finally after almost two hours eating, we finished up with macha ice cream (i managed to eat two... yaay).

final impression? well.. i actually hoping for more. to be honest, it wasn't as nice and most importantly as fresh as i imagine. but still okay laa.. at least much better than last time i eight buffet in one japanese restaurant at bandar utama. maybe i came on the wrong day or just not my luck. i still gonna come there again one day.

all.about.sushi.and.sashimi.part.one

my ultimate guilty pleasure, indeed [o.O]'

back in 2006, a portion of
avocado unagi roll (sea eel) is my first introduction to japanese sushi, then we finished up with 2 large macha (green tea) ice cream. we didn't order much at that time, because just to eat at that place, me and my 2 best friends had to sneakin' up from the rest of my friends. we told them that we need to go to a bookstore, instead we eventually ended up elsewhere *ooops*. it was my favorite japanese restaurant, sushitei at plaza indonesia, jakarta. well, not everyone like sushi or even sashimi, i also need some time to get used to it. but once you can enjoy it... hmm...

the second time was at a small japanese restaurant near my house. there, i learned something about wakame (seaweed), tamago (sweet egg omelet sushi), and my all time favorite sushi, tobikko (flying fish roe). i like tobikko because the roe is smaller compare to ikura (salmon roe), so less ''fishy taste'' and also tobikko is very crispy, you can literally hear the crack sound when you eat and bite it. good thing that tobikko is much cheaper than ikura (yosh!).
too bad i didn't take any pictures for this one.

third time was the best, because i-eight for free (yaay!) and again it was sushitei but this time at paragon mall, singapore. the place itself similar like any other sushitei branch, modern simplicity design with dim light, plenty of water elements and bamboo here and there.

of course we had to have ocha (green tea), it's a must... prefer hot ocha for me, but the other two guys ordered a cold one. then we add california roll, tamago, and most definitely tobikko again. also tried chuka iidako (baby octopus) for the first time here, turns out really good. a bit scary for first timer, it's a baby... well octopus, but still, it's a baby.

after that we also order soft shell crab and ebi (raw prawn) sushi. finally a portion of unagi roll,
sashimi salad, and chirashi lobster. no dessert this time, too tired to eat anything anymore.
